| Lively Shop
Located on an organic farm near the Willamette River, the new shop is beginning to take shape amongst the towering firs and ancient maples. The owners needed a place to store their farm and garden equipment, as well as boxes & boxes of the “fruits of their labor”. The traditional “gambrel”, or mansard, roof reflects the other out-building on the property; to keep the second floor space open & vaulted, steel brackets were used in lieu of collar-ties at the rafters. The radiant heating system incorporates a high-efficiency on-demand water heater, hydronic tubes, and an extra thick concrete floor slab. Since the building was deemed to be within the 100-year flood plane, the finish floor was raised to be 12” above the B.F.E. (base flood elevation).
