Crawford Studio

Located in West Eugene, this 644 sq. ft. “studio” is actually going to be a cozy, little home that celebrates quality over quantity; it is currently being built by the owner in the side yard next to his existing residence. When completed, the owner is going to move in, and in turn rent out the main house. Viola!

The words “save the apple tree” initiated the design process; from there, it was a balance of function, form, sustainability, budget, and sunlight. Sustainable features include FSC-certified lumber, fly-ash concrete, native & drought tolerant landscaping (no turf), hydronic radiant heat, natural ‘stack’ ventilation (operable clerestory windows), solar domestic hot water, rain-water catchment, natural day-lighting, energy-efficient appliances / fixtures, natural finishes, and increased insulation.

Thanks, Scott, for a fun & rewarding project! Best of luck in your new home.
