Paradise Addition

Adding onto an A-frame may seem like a daunting task, but with the right clients and design team working together, anything is possible. Nestled away in a beautifully wooded setting with gorgeous views, this well-built home was ready for a tune-up and a little more elbow-room, and the owners heeded its call.

A mudroom, laundry, and new bathroom were added to the main floor; upstairs, a dormer was built to provide for more headroom (usable space) in the master bedroom. This in turn helped define a sunny breakfast nook below off of the newly remodeled kitchen, which was completely revamped, rearranged, and enlarged – what was before a dark, cave-like experience is now a natural-light-filled, well-organized cookery.

The ol’ cedar shake roof was removed and replaced with a standing-seam metal roof for fire protection and durability – paid for thru a financial grant from the Lane County Firewise Program; good measures for country living (!)
