Guru Ram Das Gurdwara
Guru Ram Das Gurdwara is a meaningful addition-remodel for Sikh Dharma of Oregon, helping an existing place of worship grow into a more complete home for spiritual practice, community gathering, food, fellowship, and everyday support. The project carefully preserves the existing main sanctuary while adding and reworking spaces around it, including a new entry, lobby, Guru’s Room, Langar Hall, kitchen, office, unisex bathrooms, storage, and a second-floor residence above.
As with many community-based projects, the work is both practical and deeply personal. The design needed to support worship, hospitality, accessibility, shared meals, and the rhythms of daily life, all within a modest urban site. It is a project about care, service, and belonging — helping a beloved spiritual community continue to welcome people in, feed them, gather together, and grow.
