Emerald Village Eugene – Tiny Home Service Project

In May 2017, our office helped build a tiny home we had designed for EVE — Emerald Village Eugene — a local affordable tiny house community. We teamed up with a pastor, who is also a general contractor, along with members of Eugene Friends Church, put on our tool bags and work boots, and volunteered our time to help bring the project to life. Twelve other architecture firms also provided pro bono design services, resulting in a wonderful collection of unique tiny home designs. Many of the plan sets are now available through SquareOne Villages at a fraction of the typical cost, helping make thoughtful, well-designed small homes more accessible. This was a meaningful community project and a good reminder that architecture can serve people in very direct, practical ways — not only through drawings and permits, but also through hands-on participation.
