The Rose Cottage

An AIA Oregon People’s Choice Award-winning project, this whimsical 191 SF tiny house with a 110 SF loft is nestled within the East Skinner Butte Historic Area. Inspired by storybook-style architecture of the 1920s, the ADU is a fanciful celebration of fine craftsmanship, theatrical flair, and humor. Beautifully detailed around every corner, this half-timbered, playful, and pinnacled garden sanctuary feels like a soothing retreat from the modern world. The compact design fit the clients’ program to a T, while also giving them a chance to showcase their construction and woodworking talents through exceptional craft. Small in footprint but rich in character, the project is a joyful reminder that architecture can be practical, personal, and wonderfully imaginative all at once. The Rose Cottage was also featured by The Register-Guard in a Home & Garden cover story titled “Backyard Hobby Hut.”
