An AIA Oregon People’s Choice Award-winning project, Shotgun Creek began with a wonderfully memorable request: “I want a round house.” That is not something you hear every day — and we loved it. Located in the Mohawk Valley, the home was designed to blend gently into its rural setting while pursuing the client’s goal of going as green as possible. The project includes the main round house along with a detached two-story studio, partially tucked into the hillside. With careful attention to site, form, materials, and sustainable design strategies, Shotgun Creek achieved LEED Gold certification through the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. It remains one of those special projects where a bold idea, a beautiful setting, and a thoughtful client came together in a way that still makes us smile. Shotgun Creek was also featured as the cover story in The Register-Guard Home & Garden Monthly under the title “Yurt-like home shines under a halo of ‘green.’”
