The Octagon

Winner of an AIA Oregon Mayor’s Choice Award and a President’s Citation for the vision, design, and realization of the Octagon, this project gave the American Institute of Architects – Southwestern Oregon chapter something it had never had before: a place of its own. Since 1952, AIA-SWO had been a voice for architecture and design in our region, but its new Center for Architecture brought that presence into the heart of downtown Eugene. Glowing like a lantern in the night, the Octagon became a member clubhouse, community gathering place, and gallery for art and design. Made possible through generous donations and expert pro bono services, the project is a celebration of collaboration, civic spirit, and the belief that architecture should have a visible place in public life.
